I found this in Federation Square (the main square in Melbourne opposite Flinders Street Station). People can send SMS messages (at premium rates) to the LED strips running through the building.
This reminds me a lot of Speakers Corner a piece by Jaap de Jong in Huddersfield which predates it by a few years (which in turn was influenced to some extent by In Conversation)

I recently read about a service simply comprising plasma screens in UK nightclubs - around 250k sms' sent a year.
