drove out with Lyndal Jones to Avoca to see the house which has become the site for her work and also hopefully future artist residencies. It is in the foothills of the Australian Pyrenees and we drive through a number of former gold rush towns to get there....

Lyndal told me it was transported plank by plank from switzerland during the gold rush (apparently the boards still have numbers on them). It was then transported a second time. When the hotel next to it on its original site at the top of a hill needed to expand it was rolled down the hill on rollers to where it is today.

The house is in the process of major restoration and everyone who visits becomes part of Lyndal's work (and is put to work). Our first task - mostly left to Lyndal - was to deal with the aftermath of the possums getting into the house since Lyndal's last visit.
