silicon fen - ely, cambridgeshire

A solo show featuring large and small format digital prints from the Fenlandia archive was at Babylon Gallery, Ely from 23 September until 5th November 2006

A few miles from the first Fenlandia camera at Sutton Gault this exhibition marked the end of the 3 year Silicon Fen programme of commissions.

For this exhibition there was a new live camera feed from the gallery on the waterside at Ely, Cambridgeshire looking out over Cathedral Marina, Ely
This camera was in place for the duration of the exhibition.

Each image was collected from top to bottom and left to right in horizontal bands continuously, recording fluctuations in light and movement throughout the day.
It was set to record at a rate of 60 pixels every minute, so that the whole image was built over approximately 21 hours and 20 minutes.

The images were archived every 2 hours and a selection of these images will be displayed in the archive section of this website shortly.

Many thanks to Ely Marine Ltd. who provide moorings, liveaboards and specialist boat works for agreeing to let us use their view.
