1995
Commissioned by Moviola (FACT) and Warrington Museum and Art Gallery for Videopositive ’95
Warrington Museum is considered almost as a museum of a museum, housing an eclectic collection from Fossils to Minerals; from grandfather clocks to Egyptian mummies and skulls.
Every Dog Has It’s Day drew on this legacy, and through a site specific installation incorporating interactive audio, videoprojection and objects from the collection, challenged the role of preservation and classification in our understanding of both the past and the present, the tangible and the ephemeral.
Poignant, and at times humorous, the visitor through his/her engagement with the work, became both subject and object in a piece which combined clutter and clarity; taxonomy and taxidermy, and a Victorian knock-kneed stuffed dog.
